German Bundesrat Recommends Germany-wide Presentation of the “#FakeImages” Exhibition

At its 1.042nd meeting on 22 March 2024, the German Bundesrat drafted a joint communication to the European Parliament and the Council on the topic “No Place for Hate: A Europe That Stands United Against Hate”. In order to “take a position and identify strategies against” “the increasing antisemitic sentiments and incidents in the European Union following the terrorist attacks by Hamas against Israel on 7 October 2023, as well as all other forms of hostility towards certain groups based on their actual or attributed affiliation”, it recommends, among other things, that on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War, the traveling exhibition “#FakeImages: Unmask the Dangers of Stereotypes”, which has been curated by the Kazerne Dossin Museum and supported by ALAVA, be presented throughout Germany in order to better convey democratic values. We are very pleased about this recommendation and would like to thank Tanja Baerman, Head of the Representation of the State of Bremen to the European Union in Brussels, for her commitment. The joint communication can be read here.
